Whitney, Tisha

Tisha Whitney was born in California, and was drawing as soon as she could hold a pencil or crayon in her hand. She showed great promise at a very early age, and her parents were very supportive of her passion for art. “I have known all my life that I was born to follow an artist’s path” She graduated with her Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of California in Los Angeles, and achieved her Master’s at the University of California Irvine. As she developed her painting talent, she found that she was most influenced by Joachim Sorolla, Vincent Van Gogh, and Eugène Boudin Whitney’s favorite subject is a lovely, peaceful land or seascape, which she has found in her travels to over 100 countries on six continents. “…With all the trouble we have in the world today, we need more scenes that give us a moment to catch our breath and be at peace!” During one of her many foreign visits, she spent four months traveling from Austria to France, staying in little towns along the way for three or four days, capturing “World Heritage” sites in her watercolor journal. Upon returning home after each of her exciting travel adventures, she would then translate the watercolor sketches into luminous, inviting and joyous oil paintings. “…When I travel, I‘m reminded that we all do really have a lot in common, and that it is possible for the people of the world to unite in friendship and mutual respect!” When we look at her scenes from the highlands of Scotland to the exotic corridors of Beijing’s Forbidden City; from the rugged coast of Capetown to the ancient villages of Russia; or from the austere Peruvian Andes to the charming villages of Provence, we feel that we are right there. *Whitney specializes in commissioned paintings for clients’ personal “Moment in Time!”
